Did you know that...More than 700 hundreds studies were done on the beneficial effects of exposure to a rich negative ion environment? This is one circumstance when negative is good. The words "negative ions" come from a chemical vocabulary and they indicate negatively charged molecules. In nature, lightening, waterfalls, oceans and pine forests generate rich negative ion environments. Positive ion environments, however, can be very detrimental to our health and well being. The effects of exposure to positive ion environment are: feeling very tired and sleepy, having trouble getting up in the morning, waking up feeling heavy and foggy headed, starting yawning by midday and needing a nap, depression, feeling tense and irritable, frequent headaches, hay fever, allergies and difficult breathing. That is how we feel after driving long hours in traffic, working long hours on computers, or spending a long time in polluted areas, which may very well be just inside our homes or offices. In Feng Shui we use indoor water fountains, natural sprays and ferns to generate negative ions and improve life quality. You can also buy a good quality ionizer, which will generate a lot more negative ions. Being in a negative ion environment will make you feel relaxed, yet alert and exhilarated.
2. Feng Shui quick tipTo elevate the energy of your home, play with your senses. Take an inventory of your favorite sights, sounds, fragrances, textures, and taste. Choose a particular room or area of your home to enhance and make it appealing to the senses. Use your "sixth sense," your intuition to guide you through this beautiful process. Some ideas to get you started include: add a few accents with the colors your love, add an exotic bouquet with the most gorgeous flowers, diffuse your favorite fragrance in the air softly, add a comfy pillow to your favorite chair, renew your family vacation pictures with the most updated and happiest pictures, and so forth. You will be amazed on how wonderful it feels to spend time in a space that embraces and welcomes you for who you are, touching your soul on a deeper level. Try it! 3. The article: "Feng Shui for Bedrooms"One of the places we spend a great deal of time in our homes is our bedrooms. This is also one of the most effective areas to experience Feng Shui benefits. Bedrooms need to be well planned in terms of the flow of energy, in order to assure restful sleep and healthier living. Today we will explore some aspects of Feng Shui for bedrooms. Let's start by talking a little bit about colors in bedrooms. Studies have demonstrated that colors have a strong impact in our lives. These effects are not only associated with seeing colors but also with being simply exposed to it. One particular study demonstrated that even blind kids experienced powerful calming effects of colors after their school had intentionally being repainted in soothing colors. Always choose calming and restful colors for bedrooms, such as hues of blue, greens, lavender, or even earth tones. Avoid rich tones such as reds, oranges, and yellows as they can be very stimulant and mental. Little red accents can be wonderful to stimulate a good relationship and to add sensuality, but avoid red being the main theme of your bedroom. Choosing furniture for the bedroom can be tricky. Let me offer you some information for consideration. A bed that contains any metal structure in it can conduct energies coming from Geopathic stress or electrical magnetic fields (EMF). Prefer wooden beds and wooden furniture for your bedroom. The headboard is also important. When I was a teenager, I fell in love with a headboard that was made out of hollowed metal tubes in white and golden colors. As you can see, it was not a solid headboard and I often woke up with my hands tangled in between the structure of my headboard. If only I new some Feng Shui at that time Choose a solid headboard. You will not only sleep better but also feel safer and more comfortable. Furniture placement also plays a role in the process of creating a harmonious space. Ideally, the bed head should be placed on a solid wall (a wall with no windows and doors) in diagonal with the door (in a way that as you lay down you can see the door). When that is not possible, we need to take a look at the specifics of the room to find a second or third reasonable option. There are some bedroom features that we need to explore a bit more before making a decision of implementing them in our bedrooms. Are ceiling fans appropriate in our bedrooms or not? There are no absolutes here, but let me share with you some concepts. I just recently led a guided meditation to a group I was invited to speak to. One of the attendees said: I just had an epiphany. I finally realized why I couldn't stand the fan in my bedroom. It reminds me of the fast energies of a river I experienced in the past and it disturbs my sleep! The fast movement of the blades of a ceiling fan over our energy fields can be very disruptive. I would never forget this one hotel room I once stayed while traveling in the Brazilian coast. The ceiling was somewhat low and there was a huge fan just above the bed. Even when the fan was turned off, I felt insecure lying down underneath it. When it was turned on, I truly felt dizzy and thought I was going to faint. So, are fans in bedrooms a no-no? Not necessarily. If the ceiling is really high, or if the fan is not placed directly above the bed, it could be OK. In some warm climates, having some air circulating in the bedroom can add comfort and reduce electrical bills. How about mirrors in bedroom? You might have read a lot about it some opinions might have been favorable, others not. Let me tell you my opinion on mirrors for bedrooms. When they reflect the bed, it does not feel quite right for me. All of us release a lot of emotions and frustrations during our sleeping time. Energies have a certain pattern and when they get into certain surfaces they might be absorbed, redirected or reflected back to its source. Mirrors are reflective surfaces. What I have experienced with many clients is that as soon the mirrors were repositioned or removed from the bedroom, they experienced a more restful sleeping pattern. What if you have a whole wall mirrored in your bedroom and you are not willing to remove it? There is a technique that can be used for that. It involves reprogramming the function of the mirrors on an energy level. There is so much to explore on Feng Shui for bedrooms such as how to use the Bagua in a bedroom, how to use the five elements to decorate a bedroom, what type of light should you choose, how to reduce electrical magnetic fields, can plants be placed in bedrooms, window treatments, and much more.
