1. Did you know that...

Feng Shui principles can be applied from the smallest to the largest environment? We can set up a desk, a room, a house, a property, a whole building, and even a whole neighborhood following Feng Shui guidelines!

2. Feng Shui quick tip

Keep the bathroom doors always closed. It is best when the energy of a bathroom is contained inside the bathroom.

3. The article: "Feng Shui for Bathrooms"

Feng Shui is a profound versatile tool with universal applications. It can be used to harmonize the land on which a property sits, the property itself, individual rooms and more. Today we will explore some of the aspects related to balancing the energy of bathrooms. The bathroom is primarily a place for cleansing of the body. When we think about cleansing we also think water. Water is the most abundant element in any bathroom. Additionally, water in bathrooms is also being drained or eliminated at all of its sources: shower, bath, sink, and toilets. Water on a symbolic level has deep associations with emotions and abundance. As water relates to abundance, its elimination in bathrooms tends to create a feeling of waste and drainage. We want to shift the energy in the bathroom to one of nurturing and growth (a primary function of water in our bodies and our earth). Think Spa!

Color has a huge impact in the bathroom; we want to achieve balance with the five elements. Since the water element is already abundant in the bathroom, we want to stay away from certain colors, which bring in more water, such as hues of blues. Very earthy colors are not necessarily indicated for bathrooms. They may create a subtle feeling of sluggishness, muddiness, and stagnancy (water and earth create mud). Reds and cherries are colors that stimulate appetite, a body function that does not match well with bathrooms, besides, they carry fire energy, and fire is not necessarily compatible with water. The mixing of these two energies can create a feeling of imbalance and anxiety. So what should we do with the bathrooms in our homes? To assure a balanced bathroom, here are a few tips which your can implement right away and feel an immediate improvement:

Increase the amount of wood element in your bathroom. The wood element is carried through the color green, vertical stripes, wooden materials such as cabinets, baskets, etc., and most importantly, with plants. Add live plants to your bathroom, if you can. As bathrooms carry so much of the water element, plants tend to do well in bathroom, and they dramatically change the way the bathroom feels. They can help you to transform the space into a relaxing spa retreat. If you don't have natural light to grow a live plant, use silk plants, but choose real good ones. Studies have shown that the human mind benefits from looking at nature even when in the form of a picture.

If you are remodeling your bathroom, make an effort to have a secluded area for the toilet, optimally with doors, or at least a wall that prevents the toilet to be the first thing seeing when opening the bathroom door. This will eliminate the feeling of waste and drainage. If you are not in that phase, and the toilet of your bathroom can be immediately seen, make sure to keep the toilet sit down. Adding a picture of plants or Flowers above the toilet will change also help shift the energy.

Avoid any decorative items that have either anything that is edible such as fruits or water motives such as whales, waves, dolphins, blues, shells, etc. (excessive water element). Decorative accents are often easily replaced and they will immediately improve the energetically balance and feeling of the bathroom.

The above is a very simplistic application of Feng Shui. Many other aspects related to bathrooms can be explored within the Feng Shui. These relate to things such as, how the location of bathrooms in the floor plan of the house relate to the Bagua (an important Feng Shui map which communicates how an area of our life relates to an area or our home). The Bagua contains nine areas that are constantly interacting with each other. They are: career, wealth and prosperity, children and creativity, relationships, health, knowledge, family and ancestors, helpful people and travel, fame and reputation. Think in terms of how well these nine areas of your life are flowing and the way people occupying the space are doing in each of these areas i.e. their career, relationships, health, and so forth. Depending on where your bathrooms fall in the Bagua, each area of your life may be affected differently and may call for various Feng Shui techniques and applications to help realize your goals in each of these areas of your life.

4. What people are experiencing from learning and using Feng Shui

"Juci's Feng Shui consultation was truly an educational experience! She taught me the principles of Feng Shui and how to optimize the energy in my most sacred space - my home. She offered clear recommendations with the reasons for each. In terms of "cures," she provided me with a lot of choices to achieve my desired result, many of which were inexpensive and easy to do. Her insights were valuable and right on target!" Cheryl McDonnell

"I have incorporated your Feng Shui advise into our home! I have enjoyed what time I have in my homemade DIY basement studio with a very creative masculine atmosphere. It took many months to get it like I wanted but I enjoy being here with music and all my sound canvas equipment surrounding me. Ken Sickle

"I cannot thank you enough! I already feel such a difference in my office. I no longer feel sad and near tears, I have more energy and am able to concentrate on my clients, I do not feel that the ceiling is on my head and, best of all, I can breathe. Talking to you helped me to clarify my feelings and deep reactions to the space. That was very cleansing for me, also." Psychotherapist, Northshore, IL
