Feng Shui Tips & Advice by Jucimara Markoff
The path to the front door Did you know that in Feng Shui, curb appeal plays an important role? A straight path leading to the front door creates an effect called fast ch'i (or fast energy), a design that is less conducive for a person to appreciate the entryway of a property. Tip: Try to create a meandering path towards the front entrance of your home. You may consider adorning it with special stepping stones to create interest during the day and perhaps pathway lights for the evening hours. Adding fragrant or colorful landscaping to the path will be an invitation to slow down, relax and leave the worries of a long day behind, allowing for you, your family and your guests to simply appreciate the beauty not only of the pathway but also of your whole property.
Feng Shui for Realtors – Appealing to the senses Did you know that in Feng Shui we work with all of our senses to create and harmonize environments? Tip: during showings, help your clients to create a "feel good" home by strategically adding objects that are appealing to our senses such as an indoor water fountain. The splashing of the water over the rocks will help to naturally harmonize the energy of the home and create a soothing and calming sound of nature, which is an invitation to stay longer and more peacefully explore the property.
Feng Shui for Realtors – Improving showings Did you know that little things mean a lot in Feng Shui? Using Feng Shui wisdom, you can help your clients maximize their showings. Tip: During showings, take it to next level! Create an atmosphere that is appealing and welcoming not only to the senses but also to the emotions. Sounds and scents speak to the soul. Carefully select sounds of nature and natural scents during showings. Be aware that many people are very sensitive to scents and even the smallest amounts of chemicals used in common cleaning products can turn them off!
The impact of clutter in your life Studies done by the National Institute of Mental Health have shown that multiple objects represented in your visual field compete with each other for the brain's limited capability to process visual input. That is why we take a lot longer to find something in a cluttered environment. Even worse, our brain gets busy processing all the visuals in our field what suppresses the brain's ability to respond and reduces its activities. Tip: So start now to improve your spaces and environments: get rid of what you don't need, don't use, or don't like. Start with one drawer and one step at the time, work through all your belongings.
The power of colors and our performance Did you know that colors affect the way you feel and behave? Repeated research has shown that exposure to the warmer colors of the spectrum (reds, oranges and yellows) increases blood pressure, pulse rate and respiratory rates, while exposure to the cooler colors of the spectrum (greens, blues and blacks) decreases blood pressure, pulse rate and respiratory rates. Tips: To create a fun and uplifting atmosphere, conducive to conversations and social gatherings, introduce the color orange. To create a peaceful haven for the body, mind and soul, conducive to quietness and contemplation, use light blues or lavenders in your environment. To create an energized room, ready to help you with your daily work out program, add reds to your space. To help you to keep focused and to stimulate your mental activities, use yellows.
